Dragan Tomic - President
Mr. Dragan Tomic was born in 1937 in the South Serbian
village of Zbevac. He graduated economics at the Skoplje
University in only two years and eight months.
In 1967, he switched from the position of the Plan
and Analysis Director to the position of CEO of the
furniture factory "Sima Pogacarevic". From
that moment, leading the company for almost four decades,
Mr. Tomic managed to transform the factory that initially
employed 371 workers into a powerful business system
currently employing almost 7.000 people with the value
assessed to 80.000.000 EUR. He introduced leadership
philosophy based on the overall development consisting
of strategic usage of natural, productive and human
resources of the Vranje municipality and Southern
Serbia region, primarily by establishing small enterprises
and family factories. This concept provided SIMPO's
continuous growth, development of the entire region
and alleviation of unemployment in Southern Serbia.
His work “Small enterprises - a great opportunity" is an unavoidable textbook
in this field.
Mr. Dragan Tomic is also one of the most renowned businesspersons within the
country. Leading business associations and public
named him several times the most successful manager
in Yugoslavia. The founders of the Serbian Business
Club “Privrednik” that gathering leaders of the most
successful Serbian companies, elected him as the president
of the Yugoslav Lobby of International Managers.
